BWS Doulas are highly-trained
careproviders only have one boss (you), to be completely present with you throughout your entire experience. We don't work in shifts and we don't dip out, no matter what. We just provide a strong source of evidence-based Information, caring connection, and consistent support.
BWS Doulas receive support and mentorship from our co-founders, April Kline and Dr. Jodi Cunningham. April, a Certified Professional Midwife and IBCLC Lactation Consultant, and Jodi, a public health practitioner with a PhD and an Evidence-Based Birth® Instructor, bring decades of experience to our team. Both former professors (and mothers to five total kiddos), they have taught midwifery and public health coursework up to graduate level students, and conducted maternal and infant health research—a foundation that allows for them to provide unparalleled guidance and expertise to support the BWS Doula Team to best support YOU through your enitre journey.
BWS Doulas have collectively attended thousands of births in all settings, ensuring they are well-trained and prepared to be a
calming and present part of your birth team.

April weaves powerful healing from over twenty years of education and experience as a Certified Professional Midwife with expertise in massage therapy, anatomy and physiology, optimal pregnancy, birth and postpartum health—the science and art of childbearing and lactation consulting, as well as deep knowledge of trauma resolution, body-mind connection, whole-person health, and newborn and baby care including feeding, crying, digestive issues, stress, and sleeplessness.

Drawing from her former career as a college professor and academic researcher, Dr. Jodi uses skills in teaching and mentorship to walk side-by-side with you during these big life transitions. As an Evidence Based Birth® childbirth instructor and compassionate birth doula, Dr. Jodi blends her expertise in public health and her passion for supporting families to bring you quality support and education. With a knack for distilling complex health information into digestible insights, she gives you knowledge and real tools to help you navigate your journey with confidence.
